Lil Tecca
Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe (born August
26, 2002), known professionally as Lil Tecca, is an American rapper and singer.
His 2019 single "Ransom", was his first major hit. It reached the top
spot at 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The debut mixtape of his, We Love You Tecca
(2019) included the hit single. It reached #4 on the US Billboard 200. The
mixtape also contained the singles Love Me and Did It Again. His debut studio
album,"Virgo" (2020) it debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200. It
also included the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topping singles "Dolly" and
"When You Down". His second mixtape "We Love You Tecca 2"
was released in August 2021. It featured "Repeat It", and "Lot
of Me". Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe was born on August 26, 2002, in the
Queens neighborhood of New York City to Jamaican immigrants. Sharpe was born in
Queens' Springfield Gardens, and later relocated to Cedarhurst on Long Island.
At a young age, Sharpe had aspirations of playing in the NBA however, after 12
years of age Sharpe began to turn his attention towards pursuing a career in
music. He completed his studies at Lawrence High School. When Tecca was nine
years old, he catered to his love of music by rapping with his friends using
his Xbox. They would make tracks of diss directed at each other and one was
posted to SoundCloud several years ago, but was later removed. In the early
years of his life that he wasn't making any plans to pursue music a profession
but instead wanted to be an NBA star. He began to pursue music more seriously when
he dropped his interest in basketball when he was in middle school. His first
track to gain some traction, "Tectri", was composed in collaboration
with his friend, Lil Gummybear, and was released in the beginning of 2017. He
also released "Callin" which was another one of his first songs. The
following year the career of Tecca began to grow with his hit single
"Ransom", which was originally released on Cole Bennett's Lyrical
Lemonade YouTube channel on May 22 on the 22nd of May in 2019. It peaked at
number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and has been played over 900,000,000
times on Spotify and more than 300 million times on YouTube.
