Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on January 19 1946 in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a domestic worker and Parton is a tobacco farmer. She was on Knoxville TV at 12 years old. When she was 13, she had a recording contract with a small label, and performing on the Grand Ole Opry. After graduation from high school in 1964, she relocated to Nashville to start her country-singing career. Carl Dean, a asphalt-paving business owner was her first lover. They were married on May 30, 1966. Porter Wagoner hired her in 1967 to be a part of his show The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She remained with the show for seven seasons. Their duets became well-known and she was asked to perform with him at the Grand Ole Opry. Her hit "Joshua" was released at number one in 1970, was her biggest hit single. She chose to go on her own and remained with the group, even though she recorded duets with the singer. She quit him and became a solo artist in 1974. Dolly gained immense popularity as a singer/songwriter. Dolly was honored with many Country Music Association awards (1968-1971 1971, 1975-1976, 1975-1976). This petite (5'0") beauty was a natural for television, and by the mid-1970s she was often appearing on TV specials and talk shows before getting her own, Dolly (1976). Dolly got her first Grammy award in 1977 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Dolly's debut film appearance came in the movie 9-to-5 (1980) In the film, she received an Oscar nomination for the song's title, as well as Grammy awards 2 and 3. She also won Grammy awards 2, 3, Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance, for the track "Nine To Five." Dolly gained more attention for her role in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and in Rhinestone (1984) with the hit song "Tennessee Homesick Blues". She is the head of Dolly Parton Enterprises, a $100 million media company, and in 1986 she launched Dollywood A theme park located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, in celebration of her Smoky Mountain upbringing. She starred in the Dolly (1987 TV series) as herself. For "Trio", she was awarded the Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy in 1988.
